A triumph! Anna Netrebko, ablaze in the title role, has never been more exciting, at steely strength through her full range, spinning ornament with precision and elegance, and performing this uneasy role with febrile commitment.

New Production! Your invitation to the official gala opening of the La Scala season, one of Europe's most highly anticipated cultural events, this year featuring Moshe Leiser & Patrice Caurier’s staging of Verdi's opera, based on one of France's most romantic stories – that of Joan of Arc. This star-studded new production features Anna Netrebko as the heroic Giovanna, Devid Cecconi as her father Giocomo and Francesco Meli as Carlo VII, King of France. La Scala's Principal Conductor Riccardo Chailly conducts.

Please note programme change: due to illness, baritone David Cecconi replaces the originally billed Carlos Alvarez as ‘Giocomo’ in the La Scala cinema presentation of Giovanna d'Arco.

La Scala

Milan's famous Teatro alla Scala was inaugurated on 3 August 1778. Apart from its sheer beauty and size, La Scala's acoustics are said to be perfect. One of the leading opera and ballet theatres in the world, the venue is home to the La Scala Theatre Chorus, La Scala Theatre Ballet and La Scala Theatre Orchestra, as well as the La Scala Theatre Academy.
