  • This is a special production that allows you to experience Bohème as if for the first time. Mariotti succeeds in matching broad-brushstroke romanticism with the finer detail of an etching. Make sure you catch this one.

    Sublime. A great success.

New Production! Set in 19th century Paris, Puccini’s beloved opera charts the love affair between a poor poet Rodolfo (Sardinian tenor Francesco Demuro) and a seamstress Mimì (Italian soprano Mariangela Sicilia, who starred in this role for Opera Australia in 2017) whose relationship is tested by the cruel realities of poverty and ill health.

Graham Vick’s new production is conducted by Michele Mariotti, Teatro Comunale's exciting Musical Director.

Adelaide patrons please note: this production will screen only at Palace Nova Prospect Cinema.

Teatro Comunale

First inaugurated as the Nuovo Teatro Pubblico in 1763, Bologna’s 1034-seat Teatro Comunale is Italy’s oldest existing opera house after Naples’ San Carlo, and was the first publicly funded house in the world.
