Special Gala Performance! La Scala presents a tribute to dance, performed to celebrate the resumption of the company’s ballet activities after Covid-19. The rich programme, curated by the new Director of the La Scala Theatre Ballet Manuel Legris, spans classic and modern sensitivities and highlights the stylistic versatility and interpretation of the company’s dancers.
Highlights include: Act II of La Sylphide, in the classic romantic choreography by the great August Bournonville; The grand pas de deux of Nureyev’s Don Quixote performed by La Scala Principals Nicoletta Manni and her real-life partner Timofej Andrijashenko; The Act II two-step from Ugo Dell’Ara’s Excelsior performed by Martina Arduino with Federico Fresi; La Scala Principal Claudio Coviello paired with Emanuela Montanari for the timeless classic Le Spectre de la Rose by Nureyev after Fokine; excerpts from Legris’s own take on Le Corsaire, a gorgeous contemporary work, danced by the brilliant Virna Toppi, Marco Agostino and Mattia Semperboni; and more!
