Opéra-comique in three acts (1797)
New Production! The opera recounts the tragic tale of Medea, a mythic sorceress betrayed by her husband Jason (Francesco Demuro), when he chooses to abandon her to marry Glauce (rapidly rising Italian soprano Désirée Giove), the princess of Corinth. Overcome with grief and fury, Medea will stop at nothing in her quest for vengeance…
Also in the cast is Anita Rachvelishvili as Medea's confidante, Néris, Giorgi Manoshvili as her father Creon, and Maria Knihnytska and Anastasiia Sagaidak as the handmaidens.
Staged by multi award-winning film and theatre director Mario Martone, with Riccardo Frizza on the podium.
