Opera in two acts (1813)

New Production! You’ll see me again, I’ll see youagain… Rossini’s heroic melodrama returns to the Rome Opera in a new staging by Emma Dante, with Michele Mariotti on the podium and Carlo Vistoli in the title role.

Set in medieval Syracuse, the opera follows the exiled knight Tancredi, who secretly returns to defend his city and reclaim his love, Amenaide (Martina Russomanno), wrongly accused of betraying her people. A misinterpreted letter sparks jealousy, political intrigue and a death sentence, as Tancredi is driven to fight for Amenaide’s honour even while believing her unfaithful.

Rossini’s luminous early score, heard here in the opera’s tragic Ferrara ending, meets Dante’s striking “theatre of puppets” imagery to create a visually bold, emotionally charged staging where love and loyalty are tested to the limit.
