Opera in three acts (1900)

New production! For the fifth consecutive year, Palace Opera Ballet will present La Scala’s season opening gala, the grandest night of the year in the world of opera, and one of Europe’s most anticipated annual cultural events.

For the occasion this year, Riccardo Chailly reteams with Davide Livermore and Giò Forma to sign a new staging of Puccini’s original version of ToscaAnna Netrebko sings the title role as the glamourous singer Floria Tosca, who catches the eye of the corrupt police chief Baron Scarpia (Luca Salsi) as he plots to destroy her lover, Mario Cavaradossi (Francesco Meli), a politically rebellious painter.

 

La Scala
