The Independent

Wagner's early masterpiece explores the themes of damnation and redemption that continued to fascinate him throughout his career. In this tale of a sea captain forced to sail the seven seas for eternity until released by the faithful love of a good woman, Wagner created two unforgettable characters operating near the limits of human emotion. Tim Albery’s atmospheric staging provides an ideal platform on which Bryn Terfel’s turbulent Dutchman and Adrianne Pieczonka’s visionary Senta will explore their passions and struggle to find salvation in a hostile world.

The captured live cinema screening will be presented by British actor, writer and director, Simon Callow.
